Maersk struggles to hire women executivesMarch 2021
Shipping giant AP Moller-Maersk says it’s struggling to hire women for top management jobs.
Gender diversity is extremely low in the man-dominated shipping business. Since Maersk is the world’s biggest container-shipping company it has a key role to play in attracting women to the industry. Maersk is also Denmark’s flagship corporation.
About 30 percent of Maersk’s top executives were women last year. Maersk aims to raise that to at least 35 percent this year in part by stepping up efforts to encourage more women to apply for jobs at top levels, reports Bloomberg.
Maersk needs “to take advantage” of women’s management skills, company Chairman Jim Hagemann Snabe said.
