ChatGPT has prompted race to beat Google’s search engine

Google has for years been the undisputed king of Internet search. That may change after the appearance of ChatGPT.

OpenAI made big headlines with its release of ChatGPT in November.

Since then, experts have said developers could use the technology behind ChatGPT to make search engines that are better than Google.

Microsoft, which owns search engine Bing, is invested a lot of money in OpenAI to help develop ChatGPT.

China’s leading search engine, Baidu, is another big player working to develop a bot similar to ChatGPT, writes WIRED.

Also, several startups have launched search engines with chat interfaces like ChatGPT's. Examples are You.com, Perplexity AI, and Neeva.

Google’s owner Alphabet is responding and on Feb 6 announced that it is launching an AI chatbot called Bard.
