Los Angeles, Venice, Pakistan feel climate change pains

February 2023
Snow in Los Angeles, dry canals in Venice and economic crisis in Pakistan are recent examples illustrating the global impact of climate change.

Southern California, best known for its Sunny weather, was hit last week by a winter storm that caused major power outages and floodings.

Snowflakes were even falling around the iconic Hollywood sign.

In Europe, Venice, the city on water, saw its canals run dry as Italy’s Alps have received less than half of their normal snowfall.

The dry winter made it impossible for gondolas and water taxis to navigate Venice’s famous canals.

In Asia, Pakistan is going through a major economic crisis due in part to last year’s floodings that destroyed homes and hurt production of export products such as cotton.
